We love our puppies! Who
couldn't?? And we want to do everything we can to make sure that our puppies
stay in the home they begin in.
Puppies take time and money. Is your family and home ready for this commitment? Puppies often cry the first few nights away from their litter mates, they make big messes in the home, they chew up belongings both inside and outside, they dig.....think of all of this when making your decision. They also add stress to the family. Someone has to be available to take them in and out to potty. Someone has to be willing to clean up after them. New puppy owners always underestimate the time required to begin integrating the new family member. Think ahead to lifestyle changes and to travel arrangements. Do not buy a puppy if it is to be for your child to learn responsibility. With most children, there is a honeymoon period when the new pup comes home, but the chores get tiresome and the child will lose interest. Mom and Dad, be prepared for this. Puppies also need to be supervised, socialized, kept safe from other dogs in the household....are you prepared to do this? Do you have the economic resources to add a dog to your family? There are shots, spay and neuter costs, food, vet care in addition to toys and beds. Of course, we even buy silly clothes for our dogs :) Remember that puppies grow into dogs! For some families, this is a good thing for the maturity brings less chewing, less training, less cleaning up after messes. But for some folks, they only love a puppy. BUT, if you love dogs, are willing to have a less than perfect house, and are up for the commitment, then read on and research out the best dog for your home. There are so many books and resources available to learn more about this incredible gift from our Lord. |
There is no psychiatrist in the world like a puppy
licking your face.
