The whole process seems to have gone flawlessly!
Munchkin is in Tip-
top condition! Clean as a whistle. Began eating as soon as he was
on
the bed with the door open. Then, he came out on his own. He had a
completely normal poop as soon as he was in his exercise pen with
his
puppy pad. Has greeted everyone with kisses!
Now, to thank our Lord!! Kisses to your
cutie from all of us and
from Oliver, his lonely brother. Actually, Oliver has Noel, Magi
and Joy, so he is fine...

This is the crate that we
prepared here in AZ. It was how Munchkin traveled to Michigan. I
shred an entire roll of paper towels for his bed inside for
traveling! |

You betcha!
I'm thinking that he must have slept the whole way. He has been
playing non-stop since he got here. Every so often he runs over and
kisses me all over my face - then he goes back to playing. He has now
peed - on the puppy pad, of course! He had a little cottage cheese
for dinner. He also spent a little time in his front carrier
exploring the back yard and watching Belle (the Boxer) playing
Frisbee. He was quite interested in watching her play. So far, he
hasn't napped once - but he is starting to slow down and to lay down
on his side to play, with his eyes closed. awwww he just fell asleep!
7/9/2009 Munchkin is such a good
little guy, and so smart! He slept in a crate
next to my bed last night - and only whimpered a tiny bit when I
first put him in. Then, he slept all night without a peep - so I
slept well, too. After I got up he whimpered a little bit so I
opened
the door. He was hesitant at first to come out but as soon as he
did
I put him in the exercise pen. He immediately peed on the pad!
Then,
he wanted to play with me so we played for about half an hour, then
he started looking at the pen a lot so I put him in there and he
immediately pooped on the pad! A perfectly normal poop - so sign of
travel diarrhea. After that he ate a little breakfast and is now
busy
playing again. As you can see from the photo, he didn't pee in the
crate - all night! |

7/10/2009 Beth,
Munchkin passed his vet check this afternoon with flying colors! He
weighs 3 lbs. 4 oz. His body condition is "ideal". No parasites. All
body systems A-OK. His adjustment to travel and bonding with me are
perfect.
He received a routine dose of wormer today just to be sure (even
though the fecal was negative) & had his first Advantage Multi - so
he is protected for a month. Will go back in one week for his second
vaccinations.
I love this vet clinic!
He is sleeping quite a bit today and doesn't get anxious at all now
when I leave him for a little while. He rode happily in the car. He
was quite calm at the vet clinic - although we were there for an hour
and a half. He fell asleep in my arms after the exam and during the
"Puppy Rap" while we were covering basic info on feeding, etc.
Couldn't be better.....
Robin
He is such a trooper and you are
such a good mom! Thank you for
letting me know!!! We all miss him...Oliver is really needing lots
of us right now :)
Blessings,
Beth
7/10/2009 Thanks - and you're
welcome. He was obviously well cared for and
socialized by you and your family - even the vet remarked on that
fact. If I want to get a second Pap, I would definitely come to you
first.
Poor Oliver :-(. That's hard.....when is he going to his new family?
8/6/2009 Munchkin had his third and
last distemper today, as well as his third
parvo. He weighed 4 lbs 14 oz - so he has gained 1 lb in the last
three weeks! Penny is doing well, too. He's all legs, floppy ears,
and ratty fur - has lost about 2/3 of his puppy coat. He's just doing
great and we love him to bits!
You're more than welcome - we're curious about his mature weight (and
height) too!
A special note of thanks for your good advice regarding keeping him
away from harm until he is completely done with all his shots. I tend
to be cautious that way anyway - but have been even more so with
Munchkin. Right now we are in the midst of a serious parvo outbreak
in the Detroit Metro area - as well as several other Michigan
communities. So I am glad that he has been kept strictly in the
house, floors kept disinfected, no outside dogs over for visits, and
the only place he goes is the vet. Even at the vets he is either in
my hands or in his carrier when he is not on the exam table.

Please continue to stress to new puppy parents the need to take these
sorts of precautions. Robin
8/30/2009 Beth,
Munchkin had his final puppy shots last Thursday. He weighed
6 lbs 3 oz - and its all bone and muscle - and HUGE ears!!
He is a slender guy with only adult hair now - and several
adult teeth. Teething has been a bit tough for him - tender
mouth - but he is doing better now. He also had
pre-anesthesia blood work done. Everything looked normal
except his white count. The vet wasn't concerned about the
elevated white count - said it wasn't unusual for a puppy
that age and may be related to teething stress. He is
scheduled for neutering on October 22. Meanwhile, he is
enjoying being able to play outside in the backyard in the
cool fall weather. This week he will start to walk around
the neighborhood and have some other outings. He is doing
great with house training - and goes potty mostly outside
now that he is able to.

11/8/2009 Just wanted you to know
that Munchkin was neutered last week - and is
doing great! Came through with flying colors! He weighs 8 lbs, 8
oz.
and is 12 inches at the shoulder. He has a great coat and is
becoming
a beautiful, elegant boy.

Yes, Munchkin has gotten tall - and has HUGE, beautiful ears!
Will be happy to send you a nice photo when he has his full coat
in. He is losing some of the sabling and getting redder all the
time. He has lots of liver colored spots on his tummy and a
brown-black nose. So, maybe he is a red sable???

Beth,
Munchkin had his heart worm test yesterday - will have the results
tomorrow. He has been on Advantix Multi since he got here so I would
expect his results to be negative. Will let you know otherwise. His
exam was great - he's perfectly healthy. The vet said he was ready
for adult food. He is 12 Inches at the withers and 10.2 lbs. So,
basically he has his full growth now. He has been raised on
Kirkland's Chicken, Rice & Vegetable puppy food so we will give him
the same in adult food.
