I am still in awe of how cute and fun Miniature Horses are
for all ages. We drove up to join the SSC Miniature Horse Club
and to attend a clinic given by Eileen Davis. This is a benefit
of joining a club; you find out about instructional clinics!
Upon arrival, all of us girls squealed at the sight of 15 or
more minis pulling their carts across green hills with John
Wayne clouds floating over head. |
|
|
Later, the group gathered to hear instruction about the
"hazards" and then to test their abilities. |
|
The biggest thrill for my daughters was driving a friend's
stallion who had only been driven with a cart four previous times.
|
Saying she didn't want to get her feet wet, our friend graciously
allowed my daughters to take "Magic" across the water hazard for the
first time.
|
The hosting facility was incredibly designed with even
'thought' put behind the water hazard. It had been laser leveled
with a non-slip, non-sink substrate laid down on the bottom.
But, Magic could have cared less about all of this water hazard
preparation. All he knew was that it was big and deep. |
At first, Magic wouldn't even look at it. See him purposely
avoiding the inevitable swim??? |
|
|
After much convincing, he agreed to look at the water
directly and even soak his toes. |
Then, he took the plunge! |
|
|
Anna, the driver, was worried about water filling her boots,
but all Magic could think about, was filling his belly with
water.....and tadpoles. |
We met a bunch of other people wild about their miniature
horses, saw some beautiful country and escaped the Phoenix heat
for a day. Some of us even got to go swimming. |
