I can't
answer this question, but I have found many, many champions that are the
result of close breeding. They are easy to find in the studbooks. The
difficult thing would be to find the failures produced by linebreeding
and inbreeding.
Many of my examples are
horses from some time ago, but I see close breeding being very
successful in current champions. One quick example is Michigan's Hart
Breaker, who is a incredible driving horse. He was produced by breeding
full brother to full sister
Sids Rebel is one of the most well known
Miniature Stallions. He was produced by breeding a half
brother to half sister.
Again, Sids Rebel has produced incredible
horses. We have his blood in our Justine,
and was found in Charm, too!
As a side note, here it is 2009. Sids is
over 20 years old, and he sired 2 foals this year. Recently, I was
sent pictures/videos of these babies. Looked very correct!! |

And, another example of
greatness from breeding half sister to half brother. |

Another example of close breeding is the
well known
Wittmaacks Mickey Mouse. He was produced by breeding father to
daughter. Wittmaacks is the
grandpa of our mare named
Morning. |
|
Cross Countrys Call Me Sir was produced by breeding his
father, Lazy N Redboy to a daughter of Lazy N Redboy. |

This stallion
just took a National Champion at AMHR Nationals 2009 in Open
Pleasure Driving. He did very well in other Pleasure driving
classes. Now, look at his breeding. He was produced by
breeding a half brother to a half sister...and the half
brother was produced with that same high degree of line
breeding. (half brother to half sister). Kewpies Doll's
Oracle is the Great grandpa 3 times out of four!!!
Kewpie Doll's Oracle is the grandsire of Rowdy.

Now, look back at Rowdy's
lines. Rowdy is in many, many miniature lines. To the right
is the pedigree for Rowdy as best as I could gather. |
